Looking into options besides routing for a .032" thick board with components located near edges. Has anyone ever tried water jet cutting or other technologies for a high volume, high mix environment.

Hi Mike,

What piece of equipment do you use? I've never heard of using a water jet to route PC boards before, but would like to do some investigating before I buy another traditional router. And why only high volumes?

There is at least 70 equipment suppliers out there. So, having someone that has cut through [so to speak] the dross would definitly be useful.

Thanks davef, but having worked in the metal industry for years, I was wondering how someone would actually use a water jet to cut PCBs? I know it can cut them, but all water jets use an abrasive in the water. So, this would seem a rather "dirty" process to cut populated PCBs. That's why I was asking Mike since it seems he already implemented the process.
