Question for anyone using panasonic super thin surface mount light touch switches EVQ-PLDA15.

The above part has a recommended land pattern with two gnd pads. There is a little tab on each side of the part that i assume is suspose to make contact with this pad. The little tab does not make contact with the pad and is virtually impossible to hand solder. There is no polarity involved as the part is snap action/push on type SPST switch.I contacted the part supplier and the comment was no ground hookup required. No where in any documentation is this stated.

does any body out there know if a ground attach is reqired for this part? the little tabs are just from the lid of the device.

Thanks

Hi JEM,

No, it is not required to attach the pads. They have not plated them either, so even if you try it won't be easy.

However, the land pattern does supply you with the pads for the "support" pins to sit on & not get soldered to.

Semi-helpful drawing:

Hope that helps,

Rob.

Thank You for your help.

The switch i did try, would not solder and infact the body of the switch started buring. This spec sheet you provided explains why. The spec sheet i picked off the system from my supplier also did not have this info you've provided.

Thanks again
