I think several of us have predicted this. Once the boys at RoHS get things rolling they have nothing to do. So, why not look into bigger and better things? I like their fancy buzz name too "REACH". I guess it's an oxymoron.

Didja know large amounts of dirt are bad for you? We need a group of over paid govern-mental rejects to establish a plan to ban the world of earth.

The EU is a relatively new government on top of existing governments. This means they have even less real work to do than other governments. In order to exist they must do something. With a growing environmental movement this provides a great way for them to appear to be productive thus justifying there existence.
