Anyone have experience with SMT fuse clips for automotive "mini" fuses? We have a new design coming down and I have questions about feeding, placement accuracy, and repair.

What is part vendor? Can you look that up and determine supply type etc tape/reel/bulk etc... Does it have a design/surface that a SMT nozzle can consistantly pick from? We place thousands of differents clips with ease. If your part can be picked and the supplier can supply you tape/reeland you have a machine that will pick it thenanything is possible.

I can post that info when we get it from our design team. All we have right now is a drawing and a BOM calling out "mini fuse" of 5 different values. The clip/socket is not called out at all, but going by the shape on the asembly drawing & mask layout, the only thing I've found on-line that looks similar is Zierick #1237/1238. Available on T&R, plus Zierick also offers strip & bulk feeders.

Depending on your PNP equipment it looks as though it will work fine. Hard to tell pick surface of component based off their drawing, but as the old saying goes "technically anything is possible"

good luck K

For the automotive minifuse we use the Zierick 6092 fuseclip that requires their model 9700 for installation. They do have a surf shooter that can place the fuse directly onto the board but the engineering time to mate their machine to your SMT platform is excessive so the 6092 is the way to go.

Thanks for the info - still do not know what was designed in - whoever laid out the PCB is no longer with the company, and nobody knows what he was planning to use.
