Axis Head 1 Z Velocity error | 26 June, 2007

Hi we have a Universal GSM 1 flex head machine. It keeps on bringing up an "Axis Head 1 Z velocity over speed error during move absolute command". Pushing the e-stop button and then start again will allow it to continue making the panel. It happens randomly, not for any particular component. What is the most likely cause for this?

You might try inspecting the drive belts in the head for missing teeth or other damage.

Check the drive belt first for missing tooth or bad tension. If thats ok you might need to change the clutches, they need to be changed every second year or soo. If they are worn out the wire driving the spindle might slip causing this problem. This has happened on our GSM 2 machine, I'm not sure if it's the same on the GSM 1.

Same error here with our GSM1. Does your GSM have 2 heads? If so, this is how I fixed it.

I didn't have a spare Z motor, so I swapped the Z motor for the front head with the rear head. Problem gone. Now since we don't use the rear head as much as we do our front head, I have not seen the problem on head two, we just don't use it as much. But the problem on head one is definitly gone.

I would suggest you to try it, it's very easy and it can be done in less than an hour.
