Is there any way to generate a printable (ASCII text)component info file? We don't have LAN capability on this machine, nor do we use PPS, and I can not for the life of me figure out how to print something to help the operator set it up. Worst case is just create a setup guide manually but it seems odd that this isn't part of the system software.

Yes you can..... You have to be administrative mode. First set of menus on the screen after machine boots up. You can copy the file to a floppy disk which will convert it to ASCII format. You can then pull in up in word and alter however you want and print it out.

Yeah, that gets you there, sort of. I can't locate feeder info. on that file but I could enter it manually and format it later. It beats using a hammer and chisel on marble.

There is a way to copy the setup file as well. I've done and used them to create work instructions for the operators, but since I don't have the machine right in front of me, I don't remember exactly what file to export.

Steve, I thought these were the same format as the CSM, or very close to it. If so, then your *.BRD file has MNT#, X, Y, R, Nozzle-Skip-Feeder#- LocalFid, Designator, Part. Get rid of the header down to MNT = In Excel parse the file so that you get feeder# and Part in seperate columns. Delete everything else. Sort by feeder # and filter unique parts only. This will give you a file with feeder # and Part name that comes straight from the program. Write a macro that will do it all for you and put it into a feeder template form of your own design.

In the VIOS file between lines &B.MNT and &B.OPT you will find the index number (in hexadecimal, four digits just in front of the reference designator in each line) into the component and feeder table. The feeder table entries are designated with &F at the beginning of the line. Component table index number is located just after the = sign (four digits IN DECIMAL). Find the matching pair for the index number and the component number. Next line in feeder table is the component code, next line is the description. In the beginning of the next line you will find the feeder type (four digits in the beginning). 0 is 8 mm, 2 is 12 mm, 4 is 16 mm, 5 is 24 mm, 6 is 32 etc. Next line is for something that I don't know but in line after that you will find the feeder number. it is situated in the second column from left and is coded as follows: if 165, then feeder number is 165 (I know, not on the Topaz). If less than 64, the feeder number is the value plus 1, e.g. 32+1 = 33. If greater than 64, add 37 to the value and you will get the correct feeder number.

You really should write an Excel macro to handle and print out the feeder list.

Good luck

Oh, and if you don't know how to export the proper files then do this: in top menu level, go to Shell, then to Data File Manager and highlight the file that you want. Then press Esc, select menu Convert, select Vios Text, insert a floppy disk in the drive and then select Vios -> Text. Now the file is written to the disk in readable ASCII format.

AR, thank you, that was very helpful. I'm not well versed (actually not versed at all) in writing macros but I've got a kid here that's dieing to tweak this data with some Java voodoo that he does.
