Heller 1700SX or Heller 1700EXL for Lead free | 2 March, 2008

Does anyone have used Heller 1700SX (2001) or Heller 1700EXL (1999) for lead free? I found some references in this forum for Heller 1500 but anything for last ovens, just wondering if they can be used though they may run slow.

I set up some lead-free profiles on a new Heller1700xxx (Compact series), do not know if this is same model you refer to. Can be done, yes speed is a little slower than longer Heller Versions due to zones being so narrow, but doable. Of course all depends on thermal density of target PCB and delta T across the particular PCB - meaning slower conveyor vs temp.

Thanks for your information. What model year is your Heller 1700?. It seems that you can find same model (1700EXL) from 1999 to 2008 but there should be some differences between them which I don't know. Just want to make sure you are not running a newer model. Also I am trying to find out what is the KW consumption for the 1700EXL (1999) in start up and normal operation in case you have that information handy. I already asked Heller but no answer yet so far.

We are using a Heller 1707EXL for both lead and lead-free assemblies with no problems. The zones can reach the temperatures needed for lead free. The belt speed can be adjusted so I'm not sure about your "run slow" comment. Maybe the 1707 is different than the 1700?

The specification sheet on the 1707EXL says typical run current is 30-35 amps @ 208V 3 phase. That should give you some idea of the KW consumption.
