I am looking at NEW connecting conveyors for our Fuji lines.

So far I have looked at Simplimatic,Promation,and Jot. There seems to be a large spread in pricing.

Has anyone out there purchased new conveyors lately..if so what is your take on it ? I am looking at 2 stage 1 meter right now.

When looking at conveyors, you need to look at how heavy the equipment is. Heavy means it won't move when your fat quality director leans against it. Alignment can be a pain if the conveyor is light weight. Obviously heavy mean a little more expensive - but I believe it's worth it.

Yes, all quality directors are fat and heavy - but not all heavy coveyors are fat.

Ya know a little clear RTV around the feet of your conveyors will keep them from moving when Bubba the Quality Director needs to take a load off and leans against it. And if you ever need to move them later, just cut around the base with a box cutter and you're good to go! Rubs right off of the floor too. Leaves nary a trace. ;) Y'all can thank me later.

IF and only IF you are on a solid flooring. We have ESD carpet. If you were to apply RTV to the carpet, you'd be walked out and thrown on your skinny a$$.

Also, extruded aluminium conveyors will bow before skidding, thus causing alignment problems. I've been there and done it. Bolted feet down, skid pads, bolt conveyors together, fatty spikes.......

We have had some trouble with our Jot conveyors and the FUJI NXT. We had to modify the JOT control circuit in order for the SMEMA protocol to work prpoerly. I am not saying that this is JOTs fault. There seemed to be an incompatibility and modifying the JOT was the easiest path for us.

Sorry, I have no fix for fat QA guys....

I have purchased Asys conveyors for the last 3 lines I have installed, and have been very happy w/them; they are a little pricey but extremely well designed. And we also use the RTV trick for securing the conveyor feet - very effective.

We purchased a Promation 2 meter, 2 stage conveyor 1 year ago, although it is not as robust as I would like, for connecting 2 Juki flexible mounters together in line (as a buffer) and to hand place some bulk components it works just fine. No one has leaned on it (yet). Unfourtunately it is light-weight and will not take much abuse, but the price was right.
