I'm currently using 'program maker' to generate SMT programs for our Vitesse. The problem is we were using an old style format for our part numbers..

We have now got a part number system in place, which I now want to add to our vitesse. This will create a problem as we now have 1000+ part numbers which will all need to have their packages re-associated to our new part numbers.

I was wondering if anyone has a way to import our part number, with description and package info onto the Vitesse ?

example: C000001 - 100NF CAP 1% - 0805CAP

Any help appreciated...

Hi,

whatever you do,any type of converting, you have to type them at least once. So why don't you jus rename them. 1 day should be enough.

I've done it with Panasonic and with Mydata. Very different experiences. It will be very machine dependant as to how easy it is.

With the Mydata all you had to do was type edit the part and type in the new name. All the data was filled in with the old data. It was very fast.

Is there some way to export ascii files? You might be able to export it, load it into Excel and use lookup tables to change the data automatically and save it. Then import it into the machine.

I can try the ascii file approach. I dont really want to be manually typing in info (amending part part numbers).

I've managed to export part numbers and descriptions from our MRP system so all info is there. I give it a try and see what happens..
