Vision Type for Dpak in SMD3-Fuji Flexa (IP3) | 25 May, 2009

Hi there: I'm having trouble to assign an adequate vision Type to dpak components in Fuji Flexa (placed by an IP3, SMD3 vision system). Currently we're using 254 but accuracy is reduced and also can be placed backwards (yes, I know... supplier packaging inconsistence) Any ideas?

thanks!

I also use Flexa but we use QP3 and our vision number is 20. I would feel they are comparable libriares.

Hi,

I think vision 20 will work as well. If not we have used 100 or 105. Have you tried placing the part with the machine trace on? If so is it finding all the leads? any error codes?

If you are defining the leads in the EL lead data I would not define the top lead (wide tab 10.4 x 1.27) as the IP can not tell it from the body that well. I would increase the body width instead, maybe 14.00mm

Then define the 4 long leads with two el lines of two leads each. Skip the short center lead.

Also depending on how they are in the tape in reel, increase the feeder pick tolerance in the process section of the part library. Sometimes the center of the pocket is not the part center and you need a pick offset in the X or increased pick tolerance.

yesterday I tried with vision type 20, just defined the two pair of leads and error 1CA14003 came up, on flexa error help says the following:

Cause: The Vision_type in part data is expressed using hexadecimal notation (??). If ?? equals 0A, 0B, 0C, 0D, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, or 28 this signifies that there is an error in the part data.

Remedy: If ?? equals 0A, 0B, 0C, 0D, 14, 15, 16, or 17 the description in Bodysize in part data is incorrect. Make the necessary corrections to this data item in part data. If ?? equals 18 or 28 the description of the part in part data is incorrect. Make the necessary corrections in part data.

when tried trace vision, it shows just the body of the component so we aborted the testing because of production needs to run. But I realized that component orientation was incorrectly defined because when I switched to Vision Type 254 the component was placed backwards.

I will try with the correct orientation and post results.

Thanks for your posts!!!

hi manuel,

you can try vision 180 frontlight. treat DPAK as two leaded part. assign the the upper and lower leads at 1 and 3.
