Zevatech Z Axis fault | 23 June, 2009

We have a couple of Zeva/Juki PM570L's.

One machine has developed a fault with the z axis motor.

It is continually 'buzzing', we have checked and there is 24VAC on it. Although even on the other machine there is AC voltage on the motor.

We have swapped the following parts across machines to try and determine what the fault is:

Z Axis motor DC Servo board (slot P9) PCB's in slots 5 and 8 Head control pcb

The working machine is still good when the above components are fitted to it.

All voltages checked on backplane appear to be ok.

Anyone come across this before???

Are you sure it is the Z axis, and not the rotation, I had one machine which often did something similar, it would buzz loudly, especially if you touched or applied rotation pressure to the gear belt which rotates the head. It never caused any hard system errors, or any long term faults. I started a forum on one of those popular web group sites for users to help each other with this kind of thing try searching zevatech on search engines like google, yahoo, or dogpile. Peter

Yes I agree the theta motot on PM570(JUKI KP620) can make some vibration - I think is gain is right on max and combined with mecahnical tolerences it can vibrate a little on some machines vs others. And as machine ages can start to appear nad dissappear.

Also you may have cable harness issue to the head, you can change out the head PCB, DC servo cards etc and problem still there, if you have bad connection in cables can cause issues.
