MPM UP2000 Squeegee Problem | 30 July, 2010

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to repair a UP2000 that has the front squeegee lower than the rear? Can this be fixed by playing with the drive belts? The front squeegee is sitting lower than the rear and thus gives an uneven print stroke. The front squeegee requires 3x more pressure than the rear to get a clean and even print. Thanks for any help.

I can't say that I have an answer as to fixing the mechanics of your issue. However, doesn't that machine have an auto blade height? If so, even with one blade lower than the other, the blade height should only depend on stencil height. I could be completely wrong, however these were my first thoughts.

It's been a while but I believe the UP2000's should have a calibration for the squeegee height as well. I think you log in under the Calibrate or Maintenance then that should give you access to the menu you need. Once you find it I'm pretty sure it walks you through it. Sorry I can't be more helpful memory's a little fuzzy.

Thanks for the answers guys. I knew it had something to do with the calibration menus. It had just been so long since I had to do maintenance to an MPM printer. I had been working with DEKs and Ekras for the past 6 years.

dman97, There is a calibration procedure. It is fairly straight forward and will take about 30 minutes. When you reset you machine both of the squeegee mounting blocks/fixtures should be level with each other. Just slide you finger over the front to the rear. If there is anything but a slight difference then your squeegee settings and performance will be lacking. I think MPM can send you the procedure, but you will need two blocks to perform the setup. One is a inch and I can't remember the second. I use a set of blocks that our machine shop has. If MPM won't/can't send you the procedure send me your e-mail address and I will scan mine in and send it to you.
