I've been working to bring a Universal GSM-1 back to operational readiness at a university. I have lots of pnp experience but little on the GSM. The software is at 3.2.3. When I try to manually "zero the board" in the PWC menu I get only a black screen. I believe I should be looking at video from the PEC camera. I see a red light on the head that shines down onto the PCB. Can anyone tell me what might be broken or more likely what I'm doing wrong?

Are you working in production mode or enhanced board set-up?

We had that happen on rare occasions and got the live vision display back by exiting enhanced board and re-entering or by power cylcing the machine. If that does not work, I don't know how to help you.

I spoke to a field service rep from Universal and he also suggested cycling the power on the machine. Unfortunately this didn't help me but I see a trend. I'm still open to any suggestion. I'm wondering, should I see a bright white light when the CEP camera should be operating? I only see a red light now.

No, red light should be what you see from a PEC.
