Aftermarket Fiducials

We build flex circuits by the 1000's. The fiducial quality has been trouble from day 1 and our machines don't always like to read them. We have worked out some of the kinks thru our PCB supplier but still have problems. Our PNP machines do fairly well as they have advanced vision and software but we have trouble with offline/downstream equip. Has anyone out there ever heard of or experimented with applying fids to a panel using SMT PnP machines? I envision a roll of printed stickers that can be picked from a feeder then placed on a panel just like a SMT component.
