Hi All,

Does the Inspector software have a library manager? I see a "Standard" and an "Alternate" library folders. The standard library shows the outline (like a footprint) for the components but the alternate library has pictures and outlines with the components (not all though). The alternate is for rotated components (or so says the manual). It asks where I want to place the new part If I drag a part, which does not have a picture, over to the PCB. But when there is a picture, it does not. In the column that shows the library part no. link it just says what the picture said... like SO8-A. The other ones get the actual part number from my mmd file.

Is this ...normal?

Im not positive what your asking, you can rename parts add and delete and make folders for parts in the library window(right click in the part list).

For ref designators when you look at the main part propertys (click the folder in the upper right of the parts settings) you should be able to change the ref designator on this page as well as add to library and unlink from library.
