Need a Wave solder profiler, Any suggestions?? | 3 June, 2013

Hi,

I was just hired on and put in charge of the wave machines. One lead and one no lead (lead free). My company currently does not have a wave profiler. He wants me to jury rig the re-flow profiler to work on the wave. I really think we need one made for the wave. I've seen a couplethat look good (KIC Wave Surfer and the ECD Wave runner). Any suggestions?

Thanks John

While both of those products do make it easier to profile the wave, a standard reflow oven profiler, with some long thermocouples, are all you really need. You can even use the standard Thermocouples and send the profiler through the oven on a trailing carrier, providing you have a thermal case to protect it, and I'd shut the wave off prior to the profiler going over it.

My 2 cents.

The ECD Wave rider is nice. The wave carrier has switches that also detect coveyor speed and levelness of the wave.
