Just looking to see what everyone out there is using as their CAM/Gerber and automated assembly programming software?

I've worked with and am aware of CircuitCam and GC PowerPlace, are there any others out there that everyone is using or can recommend? At my current shop I'm using a combo of Excel and VB programs I wrote up myself, so I'm looking for input on where I should look and hopefully try out.

Thanks

We use Circuit CAM. It is awesome tool, because it give us the possibility to do the model for the job with all the data inside and from there we can create our documentation, pick and place, SPI and AOI programs right away, because Circuit CAM gives you all data you need. Before I always used Excel and now I can see the difference. Circuit CAM is the professional way to do it.

Also Valor MSS Process Preparation from mentor is a option Has the most complete solution on market, covers what CircuitCam does but can offer more options as you need, auto-generation of SMT parts for programming machines, DFT Probing, Stencil Optimisation and DFM analysis options....

Take a look at the Unisoft software ( http://www.unisoft-cim.com ). For over 25 years this software has in use by Electronics Manufacturer CEM/EMS's and OEM's to automate New Product Introduction (NPI). It's perfect for Electronic Contract Manufacturers that need to import all different types of data their customer supply, CAD, Gerber, XY rotation and BOM files. The software is used to automate Electronics manufacturing and includes software to quickly setup production equipment such as Automatic Pick & Place Assembly machines, AOI Inspection equipment, ATE/ICT PCB Test and Selective Solder machines. The software also creates process assembly documentation and kitting labels. Also as a customer you are allowed to distribute the Unisoft Free PC Board Viewer Software to your production floor, vendors, customers, etc. to aid assembly, fast 1st article inspection, general inspection, repair/rework, technician debug, for better communications, etc. Product and job tracking software is also available for board and box build.

VisualPlace is a shareware program that provides this function http://www.compuphase.com/visualplace/visualplace_en.htm

You might find it of interest!

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm leaning more towards either Aegis or Valor. The other two cheaper (or free) solutions seem to work alright, but I also have a system in place that works "alright". Investing time in half-measures is always a hard sell for me since that time will eventually have to go towards learning the new system we've implemented as the "full-measure".

If you are looking into Aegis and Valor, you should also look at Optimal (Optelco), and Cogiscan.

All 4 can do what you want and offer a growth path into Mixed Equipment Programming, Scheduling, Traceability, Quality Tracking, etc...

Depending on your company size, locations, equipment types, and overall user qty's, the price will be comparable.

Yes Aegis and Valor are good choices in terms of NPI, SMT programming , which one you choose will depend on other factors, Valor offers I feel a more rounded product, ie under one platform. Both offer CAD-BOM to SMT and Documentation, but Valor offers higher performance level of SMT line balance and machine modeling. Also Valor offers optional Stencil optimisation, optional DFM analysis and also DFT probe ICT programming all in one tool. Currently only tool to offer ALL of this. All these things impact SMT operations not just plain machine programming.

Also Valor using ODB++ as its CAM-BOM-Panel Model offers external supply chain uses outside of the tool , aswell as legacy gerber and others. Valor is a more CAM based front end vs others - ie WYSIWYG PCB model.
