my12 motor amplifier channel a error | 10 January, 2014

hello people,

we have a my12 wich has a problem it gives the following error during hardware initialization: F-MOT-MSETDYN Y/1236 :Motor amplifier channel a error.

after this error it says hardware initialization failed.

this prevents us of using the machine at all.

we have this problem for several time now and the strange thing is sometimes it starts and works normaly and well it just works. we contacted mydata but the have had no usable solutions. we let a mechanic come over to sort it out but he couldnt find anything. so this forced us to keep the machine 24/7 on last months but during the holydays we turned of. since the hollydays we can do what we want but we keep getting the same error now.

its the motor ampifier from the ywagon, we checked everything changed the pcb (ymb ed-1b and cmot ed-2b) in the cabinet @ the rear we changed the relays wich didnt affect anything..

at this point mydata says we have to change the hole cabinet @ the rear with everything in it wich costs alot.

is there anyone who knows what this might me? only thing we can try now is a servo update/upgrade.

what we checked is:

-relays do not recieve any signal. (changed relays no effect).

-the led on the pcb (ymb ed-1b and cmot ed-2b on the bottom of the rear cabinet burns green and when initializing it goes to red flashing. (changed the pcb but same occurs).

-the cables are checked for bad connections in the cabinet.

-the maxplus flx gives and orange light wich means standby according to the manual and status code 2 wich means power on reset. And code - wich means its ok.

we checked the elmo servo amplifier for any visible malfunctions but nothing is found on the amplifier either. so @ this point we have 2 options:

- let half of the system get replaced (cabnet in the rear and de ywagon) so that the problem must be gone.

-try to find were the problem is and only swap that part.

and thats why i'm here can any of you give me advise or have you had the error yourself and do you have the solution?

regards Hans, the Netherlands

Hi, Hans,

I would have suggested swapping the MOT card out to see if that fixes the issue (or, changing the MOT card with another one to isolate the card), but, it sounds like you've already done that.

I'm surprised that MyData would point you towards changing the whole cabinet. It's been my experience with their US techs that they will ask you to order 6 different items, and let the tech trouble shoot....say, a power supply, MOT card, booster cards, etc. If the tech does the work, they allow you to return the items that you don't need...if you do the work, you own all of the spare parts that you bought. I've never liked this plan, but, it's worked for me in the past when there's been an issue like this that required a lot of time/effort to troubleshoot and isolate.

At this point, though, I'm surprised that they haven't suggested either the booster cards (located behind the x-wagon/rail on the back of the machine), or the ribbon cable that stretches across the x-rail. The US tech's would typically suggest either of these items before going too much further into the machine.

Cheers, ..rob

Hello Rob,

Thanks for your fast reply. I will check the parts you mentioned. You were right about the mot card we swaped it with a new one but that made no difference.

Today we tried to find were the problem could be we:

- removed the j1, j2 and j3 cable from the maxplus servo drive and the xchain cables to check if they would still provide the same error (to narrow the location of the problem) Only the j2 and j3 cable could be remove while maintaining the same amplifier error. Also with the green xchain cable that comes from the ywagon and that goes in the copper box in the back but that is because its connected to the relay wich does not get trigged.

We understood that mydata has no servo drive such is egible in the table atleast the don't have a maxplus flex 230. And they don't think the flaw is in de maxplus. So they want to change the whole ywagon plus the cabinet underneath the ywagon but I will check out the points you mentioned in your post first.

All other tips are welcome,

Hans

Back when the Linear Y wagons first came out Mydata had problem with the original Y amplifier and were swapping out the complete box for customers who had problems. There was also a problem with the encoder that resulted in the same type of errors you are seeing

Hi

did you look for mechanical issue like friction somewhere ?

when init i use very low force buy much more while running that may explain wly machine work in production fur fail only on init

i face that whit flex cable that make just little friction on head raise-up
