Having a problem with a DEK printer. In the back to front motion, getting poor ramdom paste volume on micro BGA pads. Other BGA 1 mm pads are fine. The front to back motion is fine. Any throufghts on this directional issue. Ran ~200 panels no problem , no set up changes or adjustments before problem cropped up.

Stencil?

Changed squeeges, recalibrated pressure, same paste, double vison alignment, grid locks checked.

Looks like you did everything right. Clean and check carefully the stencil for damage close to the part you are having problem with. If not both of your squeegees should be damaged on the same spot.

Nano Protec. It really works. Our operators swear by it. Get a sample from DEK and give it a ride on that stencil.

Agree to disagree on Nano Protec. Have you used it and studied the results? We do 3D inspection and clean our stencils in the UT wash on a regular basis. Volume is better and we have to clean on a much lesser frequency when using Nano Protec.

I agree with SWAG on this. Nano Coatings make a big difference on paste release. I found when placed on the topside of the stencil, it also helps to reduce stencil wear, though others complained that it affected the solder roll, so most stencil houses now apply it to the bottom side. (I didn't have any issues with the roll of the solder during printing when I placed it on the topside).

I might agree with the type that is fused to the stencil. I do not agree with buffing on the stuff on that smells exactly like rain-X.

There is just not enough data.

Oooooo, you're on to something. I might try rain-x instead. It's mucho cheaper. I wonder if it's ROHS?
