Hi.. Hommer, I am not able to install the Vision tester software for ESV304 machine. It is giving an error in the installation "Unable to load HINST.dll" and software asks to re-install the same again. I tried a lot. but all in vain. Please help if you can.

Is your new XP a 64 or a 32 bit version.

Without spending too much time on this, my first bet is that your Application has 16 bit components and this DLL smells of 16 bit Windows.

I'm not familiar with your machine but is it possible that this dll file is looking for a security dongle of some kind ? This might be a small USB key, a USB device installed on one of the internal headers on the motherboard or something on a serial/parallel port. Alternatively how confident are you of your installation media. CD-R's can degrade significantly in 10 years and can cause all sorts of dll hell.

Hi.. Spoiltforchoice..

Thanks for your comments. Yes this system uses a parallel port Protect key and drivers for the same are already installed and that generates a "Hinstd.dll", and it is there in the syatem32 folder. but my software installation asks for "Hinst.dll".
