QUAD IVc Laser Alignment throubles | 11 February, 2015

Hi, I have two Quad IVc and both of them have the same problem. Laser Alignment is not working! When I run funtion 30, it always gives 1 at nozzle height. If I place any object beside the nozzle, it will give a number different from one depend on how long I hold it in that place. If I keep holding the object beside de nozzle, Z rod reaches the limit of travel on the height. I already cleaned the lens according to the manual and have checked the coaxil cable (and connectors) from the sensor to the controller (pin by pin). I've swapped sensors and laser controller board but I have the same fault. I suspect about laser sensors, but it is too expensive just to try it being non totally sure. I would apprecite any help on this issue! Daniel

A reading of 1 almost always means that there is something on the lens or possibly dust inside the unit blocking the laser and tricking the machine into thinking the nozzle is already down when it starts to step from the home 'up' position. Usually if you cant resolve this...then get another unit that attaches to the head....that's the first thing to try.

Good Luck

Thank you Bobpan! I checked the laser sensor and could see through the glass a small stripe (dash)in the inside lens, just in the middle of it. Thank you again.
