In our production facility, we currently have 3 different makes of SMD machines. I am wanting to look at solutions that would allow us to control kitting, traceability, etc globally across all the machines. This would need to be a standalone system that could possibly even look at scheduling builds intelligently. I have seen MyData APM suite which seems like it does all this. Am I correct in that it can be used independent of hardware? Are there any other off the shelf solutions or would we need to develop a custom piece of software? Thanks in advance for any information

Take a look at Optimal or Optelco out of Austin. I'm not sure how many Equipment Manufacturers they have modules for at this point(FUJI, Universal, JUKI, etc..) but Mydata is one they control very well.

Valor MSS has options for NPI Data preparation and processing, SMT programming, documentation, verification, materials management, traceability, and QA management not just in SMT but into backend process aka manual assembly as well as production planning for SMT machines. There are not any systems than compare on functional scope as their system.

Hello, i have been using itac for half an year now, but I am not satisfied. It is not so flexible, and its very expensive (I think). The best way for me is to hire two software specialist and make your own system (bare in mind that you have to let them stay in production and learn the machines and lines). Depends on the programmers you can get a quite nice system. I have seen it work. It had traceability even on the stencils, solder paste lots and the squegees. On itac this can cost you a fortune. I agree that the existing systems sometimes difficult to implement. Also, as a large system so its maneuverability is low in spite of all the beautiful tools. Usually if you need something you do not find anything there. We, as a software company, have developed various tools and made adjustments based on customer requirements. Take a look at Aegis (www.aiscorp.com). The machine vendor partnerships they have, and have maintained for over 15 years, ensure seamless integration with almost all machine platforms in the industry.

The system is modular and can be a standalone solution, or it can be expanded to do much more.
