placement machines - terms | 30 December, 1999

Hi.

Is there a difference between "centering a component" and "aligning a component"? I've noticed that "centering" is used much more often but I don't see any difference between "centering" and "alinging". Am I right??

As far as component feeders are concerned - is there a difference between a stick and a tube?

Regards, Marlies

Marlies, The terms are one in the same but are used according to how you descibe the situation; i.e. centering refers to adjusting the part where as aligning normally deals with adjusting the vision. NOT THAT THIS IS A RULE. ( different strokes... ) The term stick is used because the feeders that were used to place parts out of a tube were called stick feeders; no such thing as vibration tubes at the time. The world keeps a changin! Have FUN!
