Has anyone used Mycronic (MYDATA)MY700 or MY600 Jet printer for solder paste printing? We are looking to buy one. Would love your feedback. Specially how the machine works, what it can do and are there any quality problems after printing with jet printer.

Thank you so much in advance.

Did you check the printing head wearing time? If I remember correct the head needs replacement after few KG of paste printing this means buy new head each few days in real production quantities. Beside for prototypes they are extremely expensive to be used in production

I have used Mycronic MY500 & MY600 printers in the past. Wave goodbye to screens, it's really quick & easy to modify print programs, changes can be made and applied in 5 minutes instead of waiting 24 hours for a new screen. They print slower than a regular screen printer, but the trade off is accuracy, zero paste waste, zero floor space required for screen storage and speed of program modification/changes. The only quality issue I can remember encountering was printing 0.3mm microBGAs with a standard print head. It CAN be done but the results were better with a smaller dot print head.

Regarding print head replacement, IIRC, I had one head last for over 110 millions dots, about 11KG of paste. Depending on your capacity, that's about one print head every 2 months.

Happy to answer any further questions.

From what I know from people using it - it is a great machine. Allows you to have unique shape and amount of paste for every single pad. Great for small volumes, prototyping series and a great replacement for step stencils and any other occasions, where you want to do some unique paste deposit. For higher volumes, you would be better with cutting a stencil.

I'm thinkin you can buy a lot of stencils for 200K. If you are worried about floor space, buy frameless, or space saver stencils.

Will not jet WS paste.
