Obviously the cost difference between only smt and smt+th is huge though TH only 1 components,they need different material,machines,tools and control methods,so if possible just use only smt process to assemble all components,but to verify if the usb can be fixed firmly,just design an experiment in which plug/unplug outer usb to/out of the usb fixed on pcb with smt process,for example,for 5000 times of plug/unplug in 1 week,

Thanks, You're right, mid scale for me is something that would be probably very small scale for som companies... What I need is to produce 10.000 units a month until the end of the year, probably more depending on sales.

Well 10K assemblies/month to many is a big number, but then you also describe a PCB with 8 parts on it, 80K parts is not a big number. If you send me a DM I can even get our UK assembly house to quote on it if you like, bare PCB can be sourced from UK/EU/Asia as required..
