Board Stacking and Conveying | 26 March, 2018

Hi Gurus,

Looking for alternatives to line makeup after reflow oven.

Currently, I have a continuous on flat belt conveying out of my reflow oven straight to an EOL bench. The operator manually picks up the board off the belt (there is a roller at the end of the conveyor to prevent damage).

Is there anything else I can do to automate handling out of the reflow oven? Do they make board stackers for populated boards?

What about PLC? If I buy conveyors with PLC, how to I program the PLC to prevent boards getting crunched between the reflow oven and the conveyor?

Is there anything stopping you from replacing the flat belt solution to a continuous running steel roller chain conveyor? - From there (depending upon board temperature) you should be able to buffer your boards in a vertical buffer station if needed. - Or you can simply have the boards accumulate end-to-end on the conveyor and allow the operator to pick from the accumulation station.

If the goal is to vertically buffer PCBS, the current flat belt system would need to go.

Additionally, It would be important to denote minimum bottom side clearance required for your populated application and speak with a conveyor supplier on the ideal solution based upon project budget and time-line.

Most solutions using PLCS will be pre-programmed by your supplier to meet your requirement and will not require further modification.

Might I suggest contacting the company below to further discuss your application requirements. Great Customer Service and Solid Equipment: http://www.promationusa.com
