We are currently using a Fuji CP43 and a Fuji IPII, we have the opportunity to upgrade to a Quad qsv-1. I was hoping to get some input and basic knowledge of the qsv-1. Thank you!

Why would we change? our fuji equipment was previously owned by Motorola and have many hours on them. we struggle to place 0402 components and the vision system on the CP seems to be one foot in the grave. The machines are tired and have been ran hard. Not to mention the fact that our programming software doesn't work well. We are using ProSMT. The Quad comes upgraded to handle 0201 components as well as programming software being included. Flexa alone costs more than this upgrade to the quad.

We have four QSV-1s, all with the Windows 7 upgrade. Although they do the job for us and they are still fully supported, I would not recommend them for anything less than 0603. For 0402 and 0201 you need special feeders. We do not use the special feeders and everything we place is 0603 and above which makes the standard feeders very affordable. I would look at something else at this point in the game.

What would you recommend? I am inquiring to see if this machine would include any of those 0402 or 0201 feeders. We have products that contain 0402s currently and it is a giant struggle with this CP43. We would like something that can place 0402 and 0201 to secure us for a few years down the road. I would appreciate any recommendations you may have!

A CP IV-3 is able to place 0402's very well. We do it all of the time with a CP IV-2. You need the right nozzles and feeders but no problem. I agree the ProSMT software is a pain but that's not the machine's fault.

That's a significant drop in speed from a CP4/3 & IP2 to a Quad QSV-1 - about 75-80% slower.

Also do you really want to go from one old platform to another?

Obviously everything is budget dependant but there are a lot of newer used machines out there.

Wow, its that much slower? If it were my decision we wouldn't be going from one old platform to another. As you said budget is the problem in this case. I am not sure that they want to spend the money on this let alone something newer. They would like to have 0201 capabilities, however I think that comes with a significantly larger price tag than they would like to see. I am between a rock and a hard place.
