Fuji CP 642 Communication Cables with Flexa | 19 June, 2019

I'm trying to get a Fuji CP 642 to communicate with Flexa and I am having some difficulties. The machine has a RS232 25pin Data Port on the side of the machine. There is also a RS232 25pin Device Port located under the Data Port. Do both the Data Port and Device Port need connected at the same time? What kind of RS232 cables are these? Straight Through or Crossover? Do 25pin to 9pin cables work? Will it be able to communicate using a USB to RS232 9pin adapter? Below are the cables/adapters I have been trying. If it does work with these, does anyone know the COM port settings in windows? If these don't work, what should I use? Any help is appreciated.

I remember seeing a diagram, it actually only uses like 3 wires

I tried using the cable on page 4. The DB9 to DB25. Is that the correct one to use with a USB to DB9 adapter?

What is the difference between using MCS and C/C for communication? Which one should I be using and how do I see which one is being used? I know under factory you can double click on the machine and there is an option for Win NT C/C or to use Internal C/C. I didn't see a MCS option, but when I click save I get a "unable to transmit to machine 61700025 Unable to log on to the Machine Communication Server. Any help is appreciated.

You should be using the diagram on page 4. 9pin to 25 pin. Flexa settings should be set to NT C/C. You have to make sure that the COM settings in windows are set correctly for the USB adapter you are using. Whatever COM port windows assigns to the USB adapter should be reflected into the COM port settings in flexa in the DATA LINE PORT settings.

I also forgot to add that if the proper data was not generated by flexa for the CP6, then flexa will not communicate with the machine. You need to flush the proper and resend using flexa for the communications to work correcty. Good luck!

Are the pinouts for the cable mirrored (like normal Male to Female DB pinouts)? Like the Male pins when looking straight at them are 1 2 3 4 5 and the female when looking straight at it is 5 4 3 2 1 Or is it that they are not mirrored and both are just 1 2 3 4 5 when looking directly at them. The pinout kinda shows this in the appendix B but it might be just that its drawn weird.

At what step was the proper file created initially? Was it in director?

The pin outs are not mirrored. The proper data files usually come on a disk and are usually inside one of the cabinets on the machine. Chances are that the proper data disk is MCS formatted. In order to extract the proper data from the disk you would need access to a MCS to convert the data to windows format so that flexa can read it.

I purchased some RS232 breakout board connectors so I'm making the cables now based on the pinout document page 4 (DB9 to DB25) but i'm still getting the message below:

"unable to transmit to machine 61700025 Unable to log on to the Machine Communication Server"

I tried setting on the Fuji642 to Local and then to Off Line. Are there any other settings on the Fuji that have to be set for it to communicate?

Is the MCS a program in Flexa? I don't see any of the programs in Flexa being called this. I do see a program called Flexa Server and settings appear good in it. On the factory in Flexa I have Data Line Port set to the correct COM port. What is the Communication Port setting underneath the Data Port setting suppose to be? It won't let me put the same COM port for both of them.

For the Windows COM port settings I have Bits/sec: 9600 Data Bits: 8 Parity: None Stop Bits: 1 and I tried all 3 flow controls: Xon Xoff, None, and Hardware (not sure which one to use) Do these settings seem correct?

Is there a pin out for the Female DB25 Data port on the side of the 642 machine? I tried testing what pins where giving a voltage but it looked like none of them were.

When you transmit, I think the machine has to be set to 'offline'

Anyone got some ideas of what my issue could be?

You never answered my question on the proper data. Do you have a hard copy of the proper data? Is the diskette (if you have it) in Fuji Flexa format? In order for flexa to communicate with the CP6, you must have the correct proper data.

Yes we have the hard copy of the proper data on a floppy disc.

If we do not have the correct Proper Data, could it give me the error below? I was thinking it would make it past the log onto machine comm server stage, and then have a different error for Proper Data issues. How do I check to see if the proper data on the machine matches?

"unable to transmit to machine 61700025 Unable to log on to the Machine Communication Server"

Have you imported the proper data into flexa yet?

And yes if the proper data is not correct it will give you a error message because Flexa cannot communicate with the CP6.

I have not imported the data to Flexa yet. I will have to find a floppy drive. You mentioned below converting the proper data using a MCS. I thought MCS stood for Machine Communication Server. Does it mean something else? How do we convert it using a MSC?
