Dek265 mk1 power problem | 6 January, 2020

First switch on after the holidays and this year it's the Dek265 playing up. On switch on, the screen comes up with "motor comms failure, card 0 axis123 " . On looking at the cards there seems to be a power feed missing ( see attached picture ). Any idea where this feed comes from ? The pc supply checks out ok. It's not being pulled down by a card btw

Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Ok.. ignore all the above, the X1 card has failed- nothing more. Can anyone recommend a supplier for a replacement ?

JDT http://www.DEKHEAD.com if you are in the USA Adamtech http://www.adamtech.co.uk/contact.asp if you are in Europe

There are some good Chinese suppliers, but a lot of Far East cards can be tarnished & with a reduced life due to running in a high humidity environments.

Have you tried to open the MINT program and re download the drivers to the cards? Sometimes the cards fail because the battery does not hold sufficient charge to keep the files intact.

haven't tried the MINT as it won't let me get that far !! Swapping the Eproms with card 1 and changing the identifier will let it get to the 'Press SYSTEM key' part of the startup though, then it fails on card 1 instead of 0 so I'll give that a try in the morning. One of our directors sourced a replacement card which will be here in a few days though if I get no joy !

If you are unable to get to Diagnostics to exit to DOS; Try the following: ‘F5’ (WHILE STARTING MS-DOS) –OR ‘CTRL’ – ‘C’ (WHILE HIMEM IS TESTING EXTENDED MEMORY) Once in DOS, CDMINT Type LOAD to download MINTS from HDD to cards.

Thankyou so much Dekhead, that worked perfectly. We're up and away again. I'm assuming the card just got it's data corrupted somehow. I'll know next time !!! Thanks again

If it happened after holiday shutdown; good chance you have onboard battery going bad (battery dropped too low during extended shutdown). Replace batteries to alleviate future occurrence.
