DEK 265 to DEK Horizon 2 question | 17 January, 2020

Hello all. We recently purchased a DEK Hroizon to replace our aging 265 machine. The 265 had an auto-loading stencil setting known as a "Distance To Image" where it would place the stencil directly over the board. The Horizon 2 has no such feature.

How does one go about knowing how far in to place the stencil?

It looks like you have a simple version of the Horizon. You should have a scale on the right side with a stopper. When you create a new program you will define where the stopper should be. I used to same this value in the program description field, so next time you load it, you can read this value and set it immediately.

We don't have any of these. Our printers use the squeegee arm to detect and align stencil automatically.

Included screenshots from DEK manual, outlining stencil depth adjustment. Basically, distance from rear of the stencil to the front of the image is value needed to be set on scale when positioning stencil. There is an other way to adjust stencil, by matching apertures to the board's pads, when board is auto loaded in a middle of conveyor and brought to contact height. Hope it helps.

I see what the issue is now. A previous owner has removed the slider from the machine. I can see where it was mounted (bare metal where it was originally mounted as opposed to the black paint/powder coat).

Is this slider available to purchase to restore the machine to a more easily operation? I can see not having this piece hindering the set-up time greatly!

I am sure you can upgrade it with DEK and it should not be so expensive. You can also ask them the price of the auto system. This is an arm(controlled by cylinder I think) and software to control it. This one moves the stencil in place when you load stencil to the already opened program. Not sure how expensive this one will be, but it is worth asking.
