hesse bondjet BJ820 head setup?

I have recently taken charge of a hesse bondjet BJ820, I have zero experience of bonding before this and to be honest, Im finding it troublesome to say the least!! basically wire keeps snapping. I would like to set the head up from scratch but the manuals are vague about where to start and say things like "should be just below" or "close too" or "small gap" this terminalogy is a nightmare for me and was hoping someone out there has thought the same and has written or knows a set up that can be followed with zero guess work? Also how important is a clean room environment?
