Vapor degreasing and n-propyl bromide in manufacturing | 22 October, 2020

Manufacturers involved in critical product cleaning may be aware that the U.S. EPA may ban or highly restrict the sales and use of n-propyl bromide in manufacturing. The EPA is interested in the impact on small businesses including costs and performance.

If your company or your component suppliers employs vapor degreasing or other processes that may utilize n-propyl bromide (NPB) and is classified as a small business, you are encouraged to contact the EPA. Additional information and the EPA contact can be found at: https://www.epa.gov/assessing-and-managing-chemicals-under-tsca/risk-management-1-bromopropane

The EPA is looking at other chlorinated solvents including Trans-1,2- Dichloroethylene. You can also contact Ed Kanegsberg ed@bfksolutions.com for additional technical information.
