Viking Wafer Map Format

Viking Wafer Map Format | 12 November, 2020

I was recently asked to convert some industry standard wafer map formats into a format known as Viking (files have extension .vik)

Samples show this to be a binary file which we have partially reverse engineered but there are still chunks of it that are terra incognita.

The Zevatech CT-2000 uses this and possibly also equipment from Royce such as the MP 300. I think the origin of this wafer map format is from Viking Semiconductor Equipment -- but they were bought out more than 20 years ago and the product line is gone. However there are still lots of these machines for sale on the used market.

If anyone has a spec handy, please email me or you can call me at 831 239.1957.

Thanks,

Hi Steve ... In March 2000, Swiss company Esec sold its complete asset of Zevatech, the board assembly unit, to the Juki Automation Systems (JAS) which is the exclusive partner of Juki Corp

Steve wants to place bare die with the Zeva CT2000. Is anyone doing that?

Hey everyone, I finally got enough of a document for the Viking wafer map format that we were able to decode the binary files. We were able to guess about 90% of the contents (By guess, I mean suss out) but for binary files it's 100% or nothing.

Thanks All.

Could the other 10% be error checking? Error checking would not even have to be at the end.

No, it wasn't error checking. It was data that was not present in the sample files so all the bytes were null. Very hard to know what should go there unless you have a spec. There's no error checking in this file. Every byte position represents some data (except of blocks of bytes which are listed as reserved or skip) and the size of the data is part of the spec.
