Hello

We are working with an Omron AOI, but lately we have problems with upload and download time.

Every day we have to change the speed of the AOI conveyor, because despite being set the same speed, time shows variations every day. We have a special model in which AOI is our bottleneck, so the PCBs come together and the oven starts to get alarmed.

I would like to know if anyone has worked with this model of machine and if something similar happened to them, and how they solved it.

Hi Daisy,

I have worked with Viscom AOI before, I am in training with Omron now, but there were many times when this happened to me in the past. Recommended things to do:

- Check for duplicated analysis - the AOI might spend time with taking pictures of a component several times, when only 1 picture might be enough; - Check for focused/centered images - this was a setting on Viscom machines to be able to have perfect illumination for a component (use this until you don't get to be the bottleneck :) ); - Check for cameras used for different patterns - setting for pattern should be set to select randomly a camera, not to be specified one; - Machine speed - Viscom had parameters where you could up the machine speed (recommended only if it is 2-3 seconds dependant on being a bottleneck, and you have nothing else to do from the points above).

I know, it might not be the same machine, but might give some ideas. Hope they help.

If you add a FIFO buffer after reflow and before AOI you can avoid boards piling up in reflow and give yourself some wiggle room on cycle time mismatches between pick and place and AOI.

I already understood thank you very much. In fact, between the oven and the AOI we have a conveyor that measures around 6.5 ft. Only in this case we set the time of the line so that the process was efficient, now that the AOI increased its loading and unloading time, it is where the accumulation of boards arises.

I appreciate your help, since in case of not being able to reduce the time, we can work on the conveyor.
