Hakko FR-1418 Lost Software Protection Key | 8 November, 2021

Hi Everyone

I recently started a new position at a small company. One of my tasks is to get a Hakko FR1418 rework station up and running. Unfortunately they do not have the "Software Protection Key". The machine does not operate without it. Hakko said they unfortunately cannot provide new ones.

Can this be bypassed? Has anyone tried? Certainly open for any suggestions!

It's possible to emulate USB software keys, but it's obviously frowned upon legally. It would also be a chore finding one to emulate and get working, if at all possible.

You're not able to purchase a new key from Hakko? Obviously they aren't going to give them away, but I'd be surprised if they couldn't/wouldn't sell you one.

Thanks for the reply.

They apparently cant make a new one. If I understood right, the company had an employee pass away who was single point failure on the ability to make one. I found that very surprising, but even at the large company I recently left I saw that kind of thing happen more than once.
