help with LEDs and reflow | 10 August, 1999

We currently have 32 LEDs per board and are looking to change the LED from a gull wing package to another package. (possibly a chip type package). I have heard that some cases and LEDs do not like reflow. This part is not cost effective to have to put on by hand so we need to find an LED that can withstand reflow.

Does anyone have any comments on LEDs in the reflow process? Things to look out for or to look for? Thanks.

Also, the sot23 style led's can cause some confusion on some back lit vision systems as the mold is clear and it becomes difficult to find the body perimeter. No issues of any importance.
