| | | I'm in the process of selecting a medium speed pick & place machine. I need to place a wide range of components from 0805 | | | chips to a 144 pin MQFP (32mm square 25mil lead spacing). | | | | | | Anyway, I'm looking at the Quad QSA-30, the Philips Orion | | | (now called Topaz), and the Philips Comet. | | | | | | Does anyone have any experience with this equipment? | | | Does anyone have any experience with these manufacturers? | | | | | | Ray | | | | | Much experience with both. Philips - hands down! | | | | Earl Moon | | Ray, | | I have some "difficult" experience with Quad. To be quite frank, just about any machine would be better than a Quad. Just a few examles of poor customer service displayed by Quad. | | 1. Releasing a software version with more "bugs" than the previous version. | 2. Fixing a "common" problem with the machine, and not informing the customers they have a fix for the problem. | | Send me email and I'll talk you out of a Quad. | | Andy Norton | Andy:
Your experience(s) with a vendor have left you with an axe to grind, and I know the joy of swinging that axe myself.
Perhaps going out of your way to talk Ray out of even considering a Quad assembler will give you the feeling of retribution that you desire (perhaps even deserve).
When that is all said and done, however, I would be interested in speaking with you about your experiences.
I know a similar gentleman who spent the better part of four years happily dissuading everyone he could not to look at Quad. Did he have a reason? You bet. He is now one of Quad's absolute strongest references in all of Northern California.
His platforms during those 4 years? Zevatech and Philips. His current platform? Quad QSA-30.
No kidding.
Call me at your leisure. Perhaps we can staighten this out in less than four years.
In the meantime, I shall remain
Sincerely yours,
