Where can I get information on analyzing the pros and cons of setting up a SMT line. I would also like to find information on what equipment is needed, manpower, cost, lead-times. thanks

The first thing you must know is don't trust anyone on this forum. This especially includes Dave, Steve, Jason, Justin (where is he now? - probably a V.P.) Mike, Chrys, and especially me.

Seriously, look back through the SMTNet archives and all your questions will be answered but for those specifically relating to your needs. I know what I'd do with my "dream" machine/process line for specifica applications including only SMT. What you need is based on where you're coming from and where you want to go.

There are so many variables as quantity, delivery, product mix, component mix, efficiency, quality, customer requirements, industry specified requirements, and on it goes.

Are you coming from the through-hole world? Not too many left. I mean, what do you wish to do?
