Soldering stranded wires to FR4 pcb

With current soldering of stranded wires to pcb assy's the wire tends to be very brittle and can break with very little movement of the wire. We use a low residue cored wire. Anybody with advice or who has seen a similar problem/knows how to overcome this - please respond.

Are you thermal striping or using blade strippers? Are you pre tinning the wire? Are you fluxing the wire before you put it in the board? Are you using pre tinned copper wire from the manufacturer or just bare copper ? Last but not least, How many strands to the gauge is your wire? These are a few small factors that lead up to big problems that we have all faced at one time. Fear not, It's an easy fix! See ya in a few..........Jeff Sanchez

They scrapped the hot bar method and moved to selective flow soldering with great success...
