Printing Forum Responses

We keep a binder of Forum resposes so that people without access to the Forum can keep up-to-speed. Responses do not print fully under the new format. I know: 1 I complainted that responses didn't go far enough across the page under the old format 2 I can copy the response, paste it into my word processor, remove the paragraph marks, and print it from there. And I do that 3 There must be a way to format the margins on my printer when I print from my brouser.

Dave,

I did a quick test of printing in both IE & Netscape.

My results show that IE prints the best, fitting in the whole page properly. Netscape comes close, just missing the edge of the tables and some letters on the right margin.

I can only hope that both browsers will become more similar in HTML layout and printing in the near future, because inconsistencies make it difficult for developers like myself.

I hate to recommend a particular browser because they both have their ups and downs, and I'm sure most Netscape users are hesitant to kneel before the almighty Bill Gates (I'm only on one knee). I must use them both inorder to find that happy medium that both browsers will agree on.

I'm still trying to find out more information on the copy n' paste problem with Netscape.

I'm not sure if that helps, but I'll let you know about any new findings.

Dave, At some point, we may add a special button on the page for "printing" purposes, that will show a printable version of the message which would be good for both browsers.

I found the problem. Netscape doesn't allow copynpaste when a page has a table within another table.

I removed the problem (outer table) from the forum messages. But now I must extend the left table (menu) down to accomodate the possibility of long messages, so that the message doesn't wrap over to the left. Only problem is that there is "white space" at the bottom. I hope this doesnt bother anyone.

I will do the same with the Directory.

It should print properly now without any special "print" page.
