Universal 4713D Adhesive Dispenser Disposal

I'd like to find a buyer for the following used equipment: Make: Universal Instruments Model: 4713D Adhesive Dispenser Options: Rotatable dual-dot head (0deg, 90deg) Price: Asking $4K (No reasonable offer refused) I should note that this dispenser is not equipped with the fiducial camera option. It would be a good fit for a company that operates older Universal equipment that utilizes tooling-pin registration. For the price of a typical spare parts order, this dispenser could provide back-up capacity (or parts) for an existing 4713! Other details about this machine: * Purchased new in 1990 and operated since then in 2-shift, OEM environment (92x10^6 cycles) * Currently set-up off-line on our mfg floor and operating normally. Demo available. * Recently retired in favor of a newer, higher-speed dispenser (Universal GDM) * Configured with 2 heads (single-dot & rotatable-dual-dot), each with programmable volume * Spares included * Conveyors available at add'l cost (negotiable)

Ouch! That hurt. I appreciate a good sense of humor, but I don't appreciate your UNQUALIFIED quip at my expense. Your comment could hurt my chances of finding a buyer, and I'm willing to bet that you don't have any direct experience with this equipment. What say you? Anyone interested in this equipment deserves facts and details about the equipment. My experience with the 4713D (i.e., 8 years engr. support) has been very positive. It's been reliable (much, much better than the Universal pick & place equipment of the same vintage). The 4713's positive displacement pump -- a Creative Automation design -- has been repeatible and durable in our process. Witness the fact that Universal uses a similar, lighter-weight version of the same Creative Auto pump on the GDM. I have just three complaints about this machine: (1) Our 4713D has no fiducial camera, so it relies on less accurate (and much less flexible) tooling pin registration. It's not a great machine for dispensing 0603 dots. (2) The 4713D is slower than new, high-speed dispensers (e.g., about half as fast as the GDM) (3) The programmable volume control motors/encoders/sensors (one set per head, Z4 & Z5 axes) require periodic adjustment...more than I'd expect. The first complaint listed above is the most serious; this is reason I suggested that our 4713D would work well for a company who already operates this equipment (and therefore can use the tooling pin registration scheme without modifying their board/panel designs). Basically, it's an aging but usable machine with a limited market. I'd rather sell it for a very small sum than scrap it. Yes, I'm finished now :)

As a matter of fact I do have DIRECT EXPERIENCE with this equipment I had 3 4713 with vision (which by the way was next to useless), You should mention if they have not allready will shortly stop supporting this equipment(spare parts), and good luck getting technical support for it. Apparently I guessed wrong about your experience with the 4713: my apologies, "Jojo". I always cringe when I see people getting personal in cyberspace, and in this case I'm guilty. I'll just add one thing: our 4713D does not produce strings and skips, nor does it require "lots of tweeking" (only an occasional adjustment to the Z4 and Z5 encoders to get those axes to complete the "zero" process). I can't explain the big difference in our experiences with this equipment model. Anyone else care to offer their experience?

Anyone else care to offer their experience? Mike I quess its just a case where I got ahold of some bad ones, you apperantly have had good luck with them. Mybe a bottle of Tylenol is not needed. In the future I will keep my lame attempts at humor to myself. No hard feelings J
