6241B VCD Insertion Machine Problem | 24 April, 1998

I have a problem with the insertion tooling of a 6241B VCD Insertion Machine. I must replace most of the parts of the insertion head but the screws of the Rails has the socket head damage, so it is not possible using the Allen Tool. I am looking for a method to extract the screws without dismounting the whole tool, the difficulty is because there is not enough room in order to put the hands into the tool.

Yep, that one is a son of a gun. You can try to remove the lead screw bushing, that will allow a little more room to play with. Then if you can carefully (too much pounding can break the bushing, if you don't have a spare don't try this) try to scribe with a chisel a slot in order to tap it around. I have done this with mixed results. It is usually best to just remove the Right or left bracket (wich ever one has the bad screw) and put it in a vice and again chisel a mark and then tap the screw out. Hope this help's Mike
