need info on non contact adhesive dispensing

Have mixed technology board and am interested to hear any info on the Nordson non-contact adhesive dispenser. I woud appriciate any feedback I could get. I am currently using a contact system and am tired of breaking needles and need a way to speed up my production time. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

Hi Rick, The Nordson non-contact dispenser huh? Didn't Nordson buy-out Asymtek?...(I'm pretty sure they did)...If it's a Asymtek dispenser, it's pretty slick! I've not worked with a Asymtek dispenser before, but I did take a good close look at one down at NEPCON a few years ago. It uses a type of "Jetting" technology to dispense the dots. The time I looked at it they were dispensing these little demo boards that had a pattern of 1206, 0805, and 0603 pads on it, and the job it did dispensing at the show was pretty darn good! Very fast! I remember they said it's capable of some ungodly speed like 250,000 dots an hour! I didn't time it when I was looking at it, but it was smoking along pretty quick! I'm used to working with FUJI FGL-V dispensers, and the Asymtek dispenser was moving quite a bit quicker than they did...it kinda sounds like a machine gun with a silencer on it when it's running. They were curing and passing out those little cards they were dispensing, and I remember being pretty impressed with the dot accuracy and how consistent each dot was with each other. Each dot was a clone of the next one to it, and they all had real good dot shape and height...the dots had that nice "Hershey's kiss" appearance that we always look for when dispensing for component placement. I can't tell you how easy it is to work on or program, but from what I saw at NEPCON on the way it performed, it would be something that I wouldn't mind having on my production floor.
