My 2cents on the new forum layout | 10 March, 1998

Hello, I know nobody asked, but here are my 2cents on the newer, more comercialized layout of the forum. I frequent many of the SMT/Assembly forums and the ones I prefer to stay with are the ones that are NOT comercially oriented. Not having comercials on the forums makes it easier to maintain the idea of posting questions and the like on the forum. I would be less likely to expect commercial postings from vendors when commercial advertisements are not part of the scheme of things. It the commercialism gets to overbearing, then I will leave, and them more folks like me will make the forum less of a place to visit. Take the current top part of the page now. There is no more 'heading' there is 2/3's advertising. Makes a quick check of the latest postings a step away, instead of right in front of you. Thanks for listening. Richard (Richard is off the soap box and left the building)

On the other hand, web sites cost money to develop and maintain. Where is this revenue going to come from if not from advertisements? Well the second choice would be to charge the users of the site. I would not enjoy/use this site if I had to pay every time I use it. So what if there are a few advertisements (as long as it is only a few), this is a great resource for information. I for one solute the developers of this site and say thank you. Mike

| Hello, | I know nobody asked, but here are my 2cents on the newer, more comercialized layout of the forum. It's tough finding answers to questions and having a forum to visit on a regular basis opens many doors for all of us. Understand your feelings about advertizing, but hope we can all accept them and move on with reading the questions, needs, and help each other from time to time. We all have a couple cents to throw around. Wayne

Advertisements have become a part of life, whether we like it or not, and to me these don't seem like that big of a deal. Why worry about such a paltry thing... Mike is right. They need to make money somehow. I don't enjoy commercials during "The Simpson's" but I learn to live with it anyway.
