ScanPlace or any scanner cad package | 16 January, 2002

Is anybody out there using ScanPlace or any other type of Scanner cad package?

Our current scanmount system went down and scancad no longer supports our scanner so we need to upgrade. I just want any kind of remarks from anyone about the scanplace system, or any other system i should look into before making a decision.

Thank You very much for your input

We looked at buying a scanner set-up a few years ago, but could not justify it. So, we use contract scanners, like: Advance Reproductions Corp 100 Flagship Dr.,NAndover, MA 01845 508 685 2911 fax 9564/201 697 1339 Martin Crowley Rep 201 697 1339 Scan CAD International 7220 WJefferson Ave.,#325 Lakewood, OH 80234 303.697.9357sales/fax 986.7631/tech 986 7707 Artnet Technology 2109 OToole Ave Suite G San Jose CA 95131 408.954.8383fax8380 Connie Craig Photo Tool Engineering 4 Kidder Rd Chemford MA 01824 508.265.8530 fax 7856 Bruce Weaver sales CPD 203.265.3690fax284.8740 CSSI, Berkley Allexander, 804.754.1308 fax1402 triad technical graphics 617.246.4600 fax5604

Dear Jason,

Thank you for posting your request on SMTNET. Please note that ScanCAD International provides an upgrade path for all installed customers, regardless of the age of their system. Currently, hundreds of systems are installed in 37 countries, many of these are running under DOS and Windows 95 and with the original 400 dpi Black & White flat bed scanners. ScanCAD's system upgrade path brings these old systems to a new scanner platform with high resolution (400 to 4000 dpi) and color capability. The new platform is also supported by current PCs and operating systems while the old platform requires the old ISA PC slot, no longer available on current PCs. This upgrade path permits installed customers to maintain full compatibility with old scanned data, so years of work have been preserved. In addition to color and high resolution scanning, the new platform also has focus capability permitting the imaging of loaded boards for first article inspection and measurement. The color scanning also permits individual components to be imaged and vision data files created. The new scanner platform upgrade package for installed ScanPLACE customers provides significant benefits to all installed customers while maintaining compatability with all existing data files. In some cases, this could be 1000s of jobs dating back to the early 90's.

Jason, I hope this is of help. We are dedicated to your 100% satisfaction and support. See us at APEX next week, Booth #1602 or visit our website at http://www.scancad.com.
