cracks between electrical conductive adhesive and round the edge of the Chip-leds

cracks between electrical conductive adhesive and round the edge of the Chip-leds | 15 August, 2000

We are assembling SMD-Leds (Chip LED cl-220yg-c-ts)on flex foil with Electrical conductive glue (Matthey A1401). When we investigated these foils we found cracks between the conductive adhesive and round the edge of the Chip-leds. This cracks cause function problem (randomly flashing LED-s, or no light).

What can be the reason? How we can solve it. Or in which direction we have to put the investigation to solve this process error?

Please help!

George: Id like to help, but Im sorry Im not familiar with your Matthey adhesive, cant find information about it on the web, and can not picture the problem you are describing. Please post a picture and give us more detail. At least give us a picture or link to a vendor site of the LED, some material properties, process steps, and background on occurrence of the problem.
