MultiCore Brand

Hello Kyle Multicore is a long established, well respected product line. I happen to use a different major manufacturers product because of its performance in my process, good delivery and good pricing. In pre-qualification testing Multicore seemed fine, but for reasons not related to perfomance, it didn't make the final cut. Question - are you experiencing problems in your current process related to paste performance, delivery or price? If not, are you willing to put the effort into a formal qualification of a new product? I wouldn't suggest throwing the new product onto the stencil and running. Whose production will be the guinea pig? You'll have to evaluate how it will fit into your entire process. Is it compatable with the other materials you use, your cleaning process (if any), your testing process, your components, etc. How about the profiles you use. will they have to be changed? We have all been offered boucoux free samples but the cost of using them is usually higher than their worth. My 2 cents - If it ain't broke don't fix it. If it is broken, find out why and fix it (and the answer might indeed be a different paste). If you are experiencing difficulties, put them out here. We'll try to help. Good Luck. John Thorup

Kyle: I have also used the Kester, and the biggest difference I found between the two is that the MultiCore is a lot thicker. I had to make some printer adjustments to use the Kester; I had to use a little less squeege pressure to get a clean print on fine pitch parts, but as far as oven profile and reflow, I didn't make any changes and things still looked great. I do agree with John, though. If you have to make any adjustments, it takes some time and could screw up a couple of boards. That wasn't a big deal for us, but I don't know what your situation is.
