Here is a study on printing factors study on CSP [we understand that you asked about fine pitch, but hey, it's close and FREE] http://nepp.nasa.gov/docuploads/2A524D62-7032-4C0D-BBDED6CFFC2FA07B/SMTA-I-Joint-Paste-2004.pdf

It's interesting that while they included squeegee angle in their factors, they never mentioned any effects based on the squeegee angle.

Hi Cesar,

I' think is not soo critical, but take cre my 5Y experiences are focused mostly bad designed pcb's on outrunning project wich are transfered to eastern europe or to mini factories in austria. at wery old dek265 I see 45 degrees squeegue and at mpm I see used 60 degree to use.

what is your current problem? How is your stencil designed? what cleaning method do you use? how many is your target?

We run with various fine pitch and BGA technologies here and use a standard 45 deg angle of squeegee blade for all. No problems found. Kev

Blade angle, print speed, squeegee pressure, should be used in conjenction with one another. The more parellel the blade is to the stencel the more it will tend to float over the solder and the more paste is forced thru the appature. Contrary the greater the angle the blade is from the board the more it will tend to push the paste along leaving voids on the leading side of the stencel appature. The proper head pressure, attack angle, and print speed will vary depending on the concistancy of the paste used. 45 degrees is pretty much standard for MPM printers plus or minus 5 degrees the other settings determin best print result.
