DI water de-ionized water is an easier way to ensure washing free of contaminates. De-ionized water has a characteristic resistance of 18 meg ohms per cm squared. Resistance monitors can be installed in cascading wash systems that would monitor contaminant levels using DI water. As water becomes contaminated the resistance of the water drops. We use only RO water (reverse osmosis filtration) and a well maintained wash cascade without any problems. There may be other benefits of DI but I�m unaware of them.
