We once used a padded mesh in our board washer baskets to prevent damage to components. Can anyone tell me where I can find this material?

Thanks

we keep some extra chain belt that is used in most washers and reflow ovens. We have not had any problems. Our wash has slightly more pressure comming from the top nozzles than the bottom nozzles. same for the air. This will hold the boards down in the baskets and the chain just keeps things from moving.

Thanks for the response. I did think about boards being tossed about because of nozzle pressure and alignment but I suspect the root cause is handling (people not being careful when they put boards into and removing them from baskets). This is the reason I'm looking for a soft mesh or grid that boards can be placed on.

Thanks

What you are looking for is called Plastisol coating. Think of a tv commercial where they dip a pair of plier handles into a coating and they come out looking great and softer and more ergonomic. We offer this on our baskets. The Waveroom Plus 55 Harvey Road Londonderry NH 03053 603-437-4651 ph e-mail Waverm1@aol.com

Yes the Plastisol is ESD Safe. Make sure when ordering you specify black esd safe plastisol. We probably would pick it up anyhow, but best to make sure.

You could also try using a wire mesh out of stainless steel(won't rust). We used these as reflow baskets and for covering parts for a steam cleaner we had for W/S flux. go to http://www.mcmaster.com and type in *Metal and Thermoplastic Cloth and Perforated Sheets* The sheets can be cut into any shape to put over your parts to hold them down or even make your own custom baskets.Might be cheaper and a little easier to do.

Richard,

I am looking for a steam cleaner as part of the cleaning process for WS flux. Can you advise what cleaner (made and manuf) and typical process parameters for cleaning PCAs?

Rgds, Peter

Sorry for the late reply! Vatran in San Diego has an Ideal setup. Ask for Frank Cano. Tell him Richard Yabuki from National Semiconductor reffered you. Go for the continous duty 220V The 110V won't supply enough steam for production use. Frank will also send you a unit to try for free.

Thanks for the info. I have looked at an EVA mesh that will pass esd test as well as exposure to w/s flux and hot water. Stainless is great but the the softer material is what I want. I want to get samples of the thermoplastics from Mcmaster.

Thanks Again, KenM
